There are many things to know and do to manage type 2 diabetes and it’s not always easy to get the balance right. The My Diabetes Coach (MDC) program is an exciting new program that uses digital technology to support people with type 2 diabetes to
- Follow a healthy eating plan
- Increase their level of physical activity
- Check blood glucose and take medications regularly as recommended by their health care professional, and
- Conduct regular foot checks.

Using programs like My Diabetes Coach can improve outcomes in people with type 2 diabetes. If you would like to find out more about the program, click on the link below.
Many online programs and apps that are currently available for people with type 2 diabetes have not been trialed in research studies.
This makes it hard to know how useful they actually are. The My Diabetes Coach program is based on a research study called the Telephone-Linked Care (TLC) Diabetes program. This trial showed that an automated, interactive telephone program improved the blood glucose control and mental health of people with type 2 diabetes. My Diabetes Coach is an exciting upgrade of the TLC Diabetes program including updated technology and more support features. Once the research trial testing the My Diabetes Coach program is complete, the program will be made available to the public with the support of Diabetes Australia.
